It all started back in March of 2018, when founder and college freshman Robert Qiu went home for spring break. Bored, he began playing around with Unity, and soon discovered his love for making games. With his growing passion, he started working on the ambitious mobile PvP game Crystal Champions.
Over time, he would recruit several team members who shared his passion. Eric Chen, his high school friend, was the first, and joined as a programmer. Several months later, a friend referred Xoro Laventer, who would become the lead musician. Brian Becker, a fellow UC Berkeley student, was the third to join the team, as lead artist.
We're still working on Crystal Champions to this day—it's our pride and joy. Our first published game, however, actually came in the form of Zombie Football, a slick puzzle game about juking zombies and scoring touchdowns. The idea came while working on a game jam at our school, UC Berkeley, and has grown to become a fully fledged game that was featured by Apple during Super Bowl week 2020 and ranked #40 in the App Store's top puzzle games chart, getting over 20k installs in the first month.
Our story is very much not done; it's just beginning. We have so much that we want to accomplish and so many games we want to bring to the world. As true gamers and passionate developers, we take pride in the work we do, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. With love and care, this is Pixel Perfect Studios—signing off.
